What is the Numbers to CGPA Calculator?

The Numbers to CGPA Calculator converts raw numerical marks into a weighted CGPA and letter grade instantly. Enter the marks you obtained in each subject along with the total marks and credit hours, choose your grading scale (4.0, 5.0, or 10.0), and the calculator computes the grade point for each subject and then combines them into a single CGPA using the standard weighted formula: CGPA = Σ(Grade Points × Credit Hours) ÷ Σ(Credit Hours).

How to Calculate CGPA from Numbers

  1. Select a grading scale — choose 4.0 (US/international standard), 5.0, or 10.0 (common in India/Pakistan).
  2. Enter your subjects — add the subject name (optional), marks obtained, total marks (defaults to 100), and credit hours (defaults to 3).
  3. Add more subjects — click + Add Subject to add as many rows as you need.
  4. Click Calculate CGPA — the calculator shows your per-subject grade and overall CGPA with letter grade and academic standing.

Example Calculation

Input — 4.0 Scale, 3 Subjects
Math: 88 / 100 (3 credits)  |  Physics: 74 / 100 (3 credits)  |  English: 92 / 100 (2 credits)
Output
Math → B+ (3.3)  |  Physics → C (2.0)  |  English → A- (3.7)
CGPA = (3.3×3 + 2.0×3 + 3.7×2) ÷ (3+3+2) = 23.3 ÷ 8 = 2.91 → B / Good Standing

Frequently Asked Questions

How is CGPA calculated from marks?

Each subject's percentage is first converted to a grade point (e.g. 88% → B+ → 3.3 on a 4.0 scale). The CGPA is then the weighted average: CGPA = Σ(Grade Points × Credit Hours) ÷ Σ(Credit Hours). If all subjects have equal credits, it simplifies to the simple average of all grade points.

What is the difference between the 4.0 and 10.0 scales?

The 4.0 scale is used by most US and international universities where A = 4.0 is the maximum. The 10.0 scale is common in Indian and Pakistani institutions where O (Outstanding) = 10 is the highest grade. Both produce a CGPA that represents relative academic performance, but on different numerical ranges.

Do I need to enter credit hours?

No — credit hours default to 3 if left blank. If all your subjects carry equal weight, you can leave the credits field empty and get a simple average. Enter actual credits for a more accurate weighted CGPA.

Can I calculate CGPA for more than 5 subjects?

Yes. Click the + Add Subject button to add as many rows as you need. There is no limit — add all your semester or year subjects for a complete CGPA calculation.

Is this calculator free?
